We use version numbers to make sure that changes to a product are noticed by our customers. Our version numbering scheme differs slightly for different types of products. Details about the changes between versions are always indicated in the appropriate product documentation.
SALSA MLPA Probemixes
The first version of a probemix is always called A1. A minor change to the contents of the probemix, such as an adjustment to a probe’s length while the hybridising sequence remains the same, is indicated by a change in the number, such as A1 to A2. A major change, like the addition or removal of a target probe, is indicated by a change in the letter, such as A2 to B1.
SALSA Melt Assays
Melt Assays have a major version indicated by a letter. The first version is always called A. Significant changes to the composition of the product will result in a change in letter, such as A to B.
Our products also have lot numbers that indicate the production batch. New versions will always have new lot numbers, but there can be more than one lot for the same version. Lot numbers for MLPA probemixes and Melt Assays are composed of four digits (e.g. 0119).
The information provided in this material is correct for the majority of our MLPA products. However, for certain applications, the instructions for use may differ. In the event of conflicting information, the relevant instructions for use take precedence.
